Alphabet has once again increased its capital expenditure forecast for the full year 2026, citing robust demand for its cloud services and AI infrastructure. The company announced its second-quarter earnings on July 22, 2026, revealing a significant beat on revenue and profit, largely fueled by the stellar performance of Google Cloud.
Google Cloud revenue soared by 82% year-over-year to $24.8 billion, demonstrating strong enterprise adoption of AI solutions and cloud platform services. This growth has prompted Alphabet to raise its full-year capital expenditure guidance to a range of $195 billion to $205 billion, an increase from the previously projected $180 billion to $190 billion. This marks the second upward revision for the year, highlighting the company's commitment to scaling its AI capabilities.
The increased spending, with approximately 60% allocated to servers and 40% to data centers and networking equipment, comes as Alphabet navigates supply constraints in the AI hardware market. Despite these investments, the company's free cash flow turned negative for the quarter, a development attributed to the accelerated infrastructure build-out. However, CEO Sundar Pichai expressed confidence in the long-term AI opportunity, noting the widespread adoption of its Gemini models across major corporations. The company's AI investments are seen as critical for redefining its business operations and capturing future growth.
