Nvidia Reports Record Q2 Earnings, Stock Jumps Postmarket

Share:

Nvidia announced a stellar second quarter for fiscal year 2027, reporting record revenue of $96.2 billion. This figure represents a significant 106% increase year-over-year, surpassing Wall Street's consensus estimates and highlighting the company's consistent "beat-and-raise" performance. Earnings per diluted share also saw a substantial jump, reaching $2.22 on a non-GAAP basis, an 111.4% increase from the previous year.

The company's data center segment was the primary driver of this exceptional growth, with revenue soaring to $89.0 billion, up 117% year-over-year. This surge is attributed to the ramp-up of its Blackwell Ultra infrastructure, catering to the insatiable demand for AI computing power. CEO Jensen Huang declared that "AI has reached its inflection point," emphasizing that compute is now a revenue driver with accelerating demand.

Despite the record results, Nvidia's gross margin is projected to slightly decrease in the coming quarters, falling to an expected 74% for Q3 fiscal 2027. This adjustment is attributed to rising memory costs, which are crucial components in AI hardware. However, the company also provided an optimistic outlook, forecasting 70% revenue growth for the next fiscal year, a figure that exceeded market expectations and suggests a sustained demand for Nvidia's AI solutions. The stock saw a positive reaction in after-hours trading following the announcement.
