Senators Face Hurricanes in Game 2 After Game 1 Loss

Share:

The Ottawa Senators are facing the Carolina Hurricanes tonight in Raleigh for Game 2 of their first-round playoff series, with the Hurricanes leading 1-0. After a 2-0 shutout loss in Game 1, the Senators are eager to even the series before heading back to Ottawa. However, they may have to do so without key defenseman Artem Zub, who is a game-time decision due to an undisclosed injury.

Coach Travis Green acknowledged the need for his team to elevate their play after a tight-checking Game 1 where scoring chances were limited. "It's playoff hockey, it's exciting," Green stated. "We have to play a little better". The Senators are keenly aware of the importance of Game 2, as teams taking a 2-0 lead in a best-of-seven series have a strong historical advantage.

In Game 1, Logan Stankoven and Taylor Hall scored for Carolina, while goaltender Frederik Andersen earned a shutout. The Senators struggled to generate offense, and will need to find a way to solve Andersen if they hope to tie the series. The Hurricanes are looking to capitalize on their strong home record and take a commanding lead.

The Senators will need a stronger performance from their top players and a more disciplined approach to avoid penalties, which hurt them in Game 1. With or without Zub, Ottawa's defense will be tested by Carolina's offensive depth. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET.
