Apple Business Platform Launches, Adds Ads to Apple Maps

Share:

Apple has officially launched its new Apple Business platform, aiming to provide companies with essential services to manage their operations and expand their customer reach. The platform, available April 14 in over 200 countries, unifies device management, collaboration tools, and customer engagement features into a single system.

A key component of Apple Business is the introduction of advertising within Apple Maps for users in the U. S. and Canada, beginning this summer. These ads will appear at the top of search results when users look for nearby businesses like "coffee shop" or "hardware store". Ads will also be integrated into the new "Suggested Places" feature, providing recommendations based on trending locations and user search history. Apple emphasizes that these ads will be clearly marked, maintaining transparency for users.

Apple is emphasizing a privacy-centric approach to ads in Maps. User location and ad interactions will not be linked to Apple Accounts. The company states that personal data will remain on the user's device, and will not be collected, stored, or shared with third parties.

Apple Business includes tools for mobile device management, allowing businesses to configure device settings and security. It also enables companies to set up business emails, calendars, and directory services. According to Susan Prescott, Apple's VP of Enterprise and Education Marketing, Apple Business represents a "significant leap forward" in helping companies leverage Apple products. The platform aims to help businesses focus on their core activities and connect with their communities.
